An American Apostolic preacher, Bishop Gregory W. Newman (born 1953), founded El Bethel Church, the largest apostolic church in the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona. At the tender age of 15, he gave his life to Christ, and in the summer of 1981, at just 28 years old, he started his own church with humble beginnings. Under his visionary leadership, the church prospered, going from a rented school auditorium, a shared facility, to erecting three buildings. At the opening of his fourth edifice in October 2022, after more than 40 years, El Bethel was renamed Hope Assembly and Bishop Newman retired from pastoring, passing the torch to his eldest son, Dr. Gregory W. Newman II.
Since 1968, Bishop Newman has been a member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc., and in 2002, he was elevated to the position of Diocesan Bishop in Washington, DC of the 15th Episcopal District Mountain States Council, overseeing churches in Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas. At the PAW National Convention in St. Louis, Missouri in August 2022, Bishop Newman celebrated his elevation to Bishop Emeritus after 20 years of serving as the longest-held MSC Diocesan Bishop.
He has served locally and nationally as:

PAW Inc. National Church Beautification Chair
PAW Inc. Executive Bishops Council
PAW Inc. Judiciary Committee Chairman
Mountain States Council Chairman
Mountain States Council PYPU Advisory Board
Mountain States Council Executive Staff Member
Arizona State Fellowship of Churches Chairman
Phoenix City Fellowship of Churches Chairman
and Aenon Bible College Board of Directors
Now retired, Bishop Newman has launched his new venture "Insights" to further
his in-depth studies of the Word of God. An online round table held each month,
upcoming pastors will have the opportunity to learn from veteran leaders, engaging
in insightful discussions on biblical perspectives.

Yours To Claim, The Rise and Fall of Azusa, Creation, The Anthology of Communion,
Salvation, and One, will also continue to write books.
